Domousnice is a generic name, derived from the Domůs family. The village was originally known as Domousice. The earliest historical mention of Domousnice is from the second half of the 13th century — 700 years ago, when a part of the village belonged to the Bishop’s farm in Žerčice. Development of Domousnice village and its population is closely related to the historical development of the Domousnice estate. The local Castle, which was rebuilt in 1730 on the site of the older residence, is now in private ownership.
